Intense Heavy Metal from San Antonio.
Kansas City, Missouri's Prophet formed in 2007 and work within a rich tradition of progressive heavy and power metal that prizes songcraft and dynamic range alongside muscle. Sitting at the intersection of melodic power metal and progressive complexity, they build material that rewards careful listening while still delivering the anthemic momentum the genre demands.
Scranton, Pennsylvania's Prophet Isaiah came together in 2020 and occupy an unusual intersection of progressive doom, black metal, and heavy atmosphere that sets them apart from more rigid genre practitioners. The band treats the bleak industrial character of their northeastern city as emotional raw material, weaving slow, crushing doom passages with black metal dissonance and enough progressive ambition to keep the structure unpredictable.
Portland, Oregon's Prophet of the Void have been dealing in heavy, slow-burning doom metal since 2014, fitting naturally into a Pacific Northwest scene that has long embraced dark, introspective heaviness. Their sound leans into the cavernous, meditative side of doom — long-form compositions where the weight accumulates gradually rather than arriving all at once.
The name is a provocation and so is the music — Propitious Vegetation from Unionville, Tennessee formed in 2018 with a foundation in slam and brutal death metal before evolving their approach toward more varied death metal territory. The band's rural Tennessee origins feel at odds with the cosmopolitan brutality of the slam genre they helped represent, and that tension between place and genre is part of what makes them interesting.
Formed in Columbus, Ohio in 2002, Propulsion have spent over two decades driving groove metal forward with locked-in rhythm work and relentless low-end momentum. Their sound sits firmly in the tradition of mid-tempo heaviness where pocket-tight riffs do the talking.
A solo darkwave and ambient project launched in Dallas, Texas in 2007 by Proscriptor McGovern, the drummer and vocalist best known from occult black metal act Absu. Proscriptor's output here veers into atmospheric, ceremonial territory that draws on esoteric imagery far removed from the conventional metal canon.
