Brutal death metal collective Final Resting Place unite members from northeast hardcore and metal acts including Simulakra, Sanction, and Devil Master to deliver punishing extremity steeped in themes of destruction and death. Their EPs 'Prelude to Extinction' and 'Bound by Affliction' on DAZE showcase a band committed to the most uncompromising end of the heavy spectrum.
Finch are a Temecula, California post-hardcore band whose debut made them one of the defining acts of the early-2000s emo and heavy alternative crossover. Formed in 1999, the group broke through with What It Is to Burn, an album that joined melodic hooks, screamed intensity, and polished production in a way that appealed to punk, emo, and heavier rock audiences at once. Say Hello to Sunshine complicated that success with darker, stranger arrangements and a less immediately accessible post-hardcore sound, earning a reputation as a cult record after initially dividing listeners. Later reunions and releases kept the band's name active, but Finch's core legacy remains the tension between the cathartic directness of their debut and the restless ambition that followed. They fit punk and metal-adjacent scope through post-hardcore, screamo, and alternative rock heaviness. Finch's best songs use contrast sharply: clean vocals break open into screams, bright guitar lines turn jagged, and choruses carry both romance and collapse. The band captured a moment when emotional rock was becoming heavier, more polished, and more volatile.
Heavy Black / Viking Metal from Waco.
Austin metalcore blending hip-hop, metal, and hardcore.
East Texas metalcore with massive breakdowns and melodic hooks. One of the biggest modern metalcore bands.
Fit for an Autopsy rose from the New Jersey deathcore underground in 2008, led by guitarist and producer Will Putney, who also serves as one of metal's most in-demand studio engineers. Their evolution from straightforward deathcore into a more atmospheric and progressive sound on 'The Sea of Tragic Beasts' and 'Oh What the Future Holds' elevated them above the genre's pack. Vocalist Joe Badolato's commanding presence and Putney's pristine production make them one of deathcore's most critically respected acts.
Five Finger Death Punch stormed out of Las Vegas in 2005 and became one of the 21st century's biggest hard rock bands through sheer aggression and arena-ready hooks. Vocalist Ivan Moody's blend of melodic singing and savage screaming powers anthems like 'The Bleeding' and 'Wash It All Away' that dominate rock radio and military playlists alike. Love them or not, their brand of groove metal and hard rock has sold millions of records and fills amphitheaters across the globe.
Epic Progressive Power Metal out of Texas.
Louisville's Flaw emerged during the nu-metal boom with their 2001 Republic/Universal debut 'Through the Eyes,' blending Chris Volz's emotionally raw vocals with heavy, down-tuned grooves that sat comfortably alongside peers like Sevendust and Chevelle. After breaking up and reforming multiple times, the band has continued to release music and tour, maintaining a loyal fanbase in the hard rock underground.
