Magrudergrind formed in Washington, DC in September 2002, building a relentless noise-core and grindcore attack from their early primitive demo phase through increasingly refined recordings. The band released a self-titled album on Willowtip Records in 2009 and followed it with II (2016) on Relapse Records, recorded with producer Kurt Ballou at Godcity Studio, which incorporated sharper thrash riffing alongside their characteristic blast-beat brutality. Now based in Brooklyn, the band has remained active through consistent lineup changes over more than two decades.

The band released In Narcosis (2008) and Forward Into Regression (2011) on Willowtip Records to strong critical reception, with the latter scoring a nine out of ten from Decibel magazine, before a brief dissolution and reformation led to their third album Remain Dystopian (2015) on Relapse Records. Their precision within extreme speed and their refusal to simplify the technical elements of their writing set them apart within the Florida grindcore underground.

Columbia City, Indiana's Matanza evolved from metalcore roots into a brutalizing blend of death metal and grindcore — all velocity, grit, and aggression with zero compromise. Their trajectory mirrors a band shedding its skin in pursuit of something far more savage.

Matt Harvey is a California-based musician who founded the death metal and grindcore band Exhumed in 1990 at the age of fifteen, guiding the band through more than three decades and multiple stylistic evolutions rooted in the carnage-obsessed tradition of Carcass and Repulsion. Beyond Exhumed, Harvey co-founded Gruesome, a project explicitly designed to pay homage to Death's early albums Scream Bloody Gore and Leprosy, along with additional projects including Pounder and Left to Die. His prolific involvement across multiple death metal acts has made him one of the central figures in West Coast American extreme metal.

Aurora, Illinois gave birth to Melting Rot in 2025, a grindcore outfit that wastes no time and shows no mercy. Short songs, maximum punishment — their grindcore is rooted in the classic tradition of brevity as brutality, weaponizing speed and noise against any expectation of melody or restraint. Aurora sits in Chicago's orbit, and that industrial midwest grit runs through Melting Rot's aesthetic like a live wire.
