Tallah formed in Pennsylvania in 2017, co-founded by drummer Max Portnoy (son of Mike Portnoy) and guitarist Derrick Schneider, with vocalist Justin Bonitz joining in 2018. Signed to Earache Records, the band released the concept album Matriphagy in 2020, blending nu-metal and metalcore influences drawn from Slipknot, Korn, and Linkin Park, followed by The Generation of Danger (2022) and Primeval: Obsession // Detachment (2025). Portnoy received the Modern Drummer Award for Best Up and Coming Drummer in 2019.

Brooklyn-based Tanith formed in 2017, built around guitarist and vocalist Russ Tippins — also a member of NWOBHM act Satan — alongside bassist/vocalist Cindy Maynard and drummer Keith Robinson. Their debut album In Another Time (2019) on Metal Blade Records drew immediate comparisons to 1970s luminaries such as Blue Öyster Cult, Wishbone Ash, and Uriah Heep, earning cult status in the traditional heavy rock community. A second album, Voyage, followed in 2023, reinforcing their commitment to melodic, fantasy-inflected hard rock and classic metal songwriting.

Louisville, Kentucky's Tantric emerged from the dissolution of Days of the New, with vocalist Hugo Ferreira forming the band to pursue a more polished, radio-friendly brand of post-grunge that retained the moody, atmospheric quality of his former project. Their self-titled 2001 debut produced the hit 'Breakdown,' which became a staple of early-2000s rock radio with its brooding melody and Ferreira's emotionally intense vocal delivery. Though they never fully replicated that initial commercial peak, Tantric have maintained a steady career through consistent touring and a catalog of melodic, introspective hard rock.

Buffalo's Tar Bucket crawled out of the Erie lakeshore in 2024 with a sludge metal approach as dense and unmoving as their name implies. Still early in their existence, they traffic in slow-cooked punishment — downtuned guitars dragged through mud and distortion, the way only a city with winters that long could produce.

Out of Athens, Ohio — a college town with a surprising streak of underground metal — Tarantula Downpour have been crafting heavy metal with character since 2017. They play with a grounded, no-frills intensity that reflects their small-city roots, where influence arrives late and originality fills the gaps left by isolation.

Austin's Taverner occupy the volatile space where metalcore collides with powerviolence and grindcore, a combination that makes their music as chaotic as the city's music scene is eclectic. Formed in 2016, they channel the blistering pace of powerviolence into song structures that occasionally open up just long enough to crush you with a metalcore breakdown before pulling the floor out again.

Torrance, California's Teeth Gnashers have been grinding out raw black metal fused with punk aggression since 2009, one of the longer-running acts in LA's subterranean extreme scene. Their black/punk hybrid strips both genres down to their most feral essentials — speed, scorn, and maximum filth.

Louisville's Tehillah have been weaponizing blackened death metal since 2015, drawing on Kentucky's tradition of serious, no-frills heavy music and pushing it into the pitch-black extremes. The name — Hebrew for "praise" — sits in sharp irony against their caustic sound, which finds the sacred in the most violent sonic spaces.
