A New York black metal project formed in 2015, Desolate Isolation operates in the raw, confrontational corner of the genre — music built from stripped-down production and unrelenting grimness. The isolation in the name is literal: this is solo black metal made for no one but itself.

Dunlap, Indiana's Desolate Season emerged in 2020 with a black metal approach rooted in the bleak seasonal rhythms of the American Midwest. The project evokes frozen fields and lengthening nights, a portrait of the cold months that defines life in the northern heartland.

Desollado is a stoner/sludge/doom metal band from Mexico City, Mexico, formed in 2017. The band released a self-titled EP in 2019 and their debut full-length, Morir por Nada, in 2024, recorded at Grábale Grábale studios in Mexico City. They are signed to Loud, Slow and Distorted Riffs.

Desperado emerged in 2020 playing heavy metal in the classic American mold — muscular riffs, confident vocals, and an unironic affection for the genre's golden era. The name carries the outlaw spirit that American heavy metal has always worn well.

Out of St. Petersburg, Florida since 2015, Desperate Cry fuse the riff-velocity of thrash with death metal's low-end punishment, producing material with the tight, caustic energy of a band that grew up in the Florida death metal shadow and wanted to play faster. Their approach favors aggression and directness over technical showmanship.

Milwaukee's Desperate Spinsters have been running crossover thrash through the city's underground since 2012, splitting the difference between hardcore's brevity and thrash's riff density. The Wisconsin scene has always had a chip on its shoulder, and this band plays like they know it.
