Formed in Peoria, Illinois in 2002, Minsk play a densely layered psychedelic metal drawing equally from sludge metal, doom, hardcore punk, ambient music, and noise. Their albums on Relapse Records — The Ritual Fires of Abandonment (2007), With Echoes in the Movement of Stone (2009), and The Crash and the Draw (2015) — are built on tribal drum patterns, thick synthesizer layers, and slowly escalating song structures that shift from meditative to crushing.
