BASK is a stoner rock and post-rock band from Asheville, North Carolina, active since 2012 and distinguished by an unusual integration of Americana songwriting with heavy, reverb-saturated stoner and desert rock. The band began recording their debut album American Hollow in 2014, followed by Ramble Beyond (2017) and III (2019), all released via Season of Mist. They have toured alongside High on Fire and Black Tusk, and their regional Appalachian flavor sets them apart within the broader sludge and stoner rock sphere.

John Garcia is a vocalist from Arizona best known as the founding singer of Kyuss, the desert rock band whose early-1990s output helped define the stoner rock genre. His 2014 self-titled solo debut on Napalm Records marked the beginning of an active solo career that has included The Coyote Who Spoke in Tongues (2017) and a collaboration under the John Garcia and the Band of Gold name, showcasing his signature gravelly vocal delivery in a range of desert-tinged heavy rock settings.

Formed in Red Bank, New Jersey in 1989 by vocalist and guitarist Dave Wyndorf, Monster Magnet helped establish the template for stoner rock with their debut Spine of God (1991) and Superjudge (1993). Their 1998 album Powertrip crossed into mainstream success, earning a gold certification and placing the single Negasonic Teenage Warhead on heavy MTV rotation. Wyndorf remains the sole consistent member across eleven studio albums, and the band is widely credited as one of the genre's founding acts.

The Shrine formed in Los Angeles, California in 2008, describing their sound as "Psychedelic Violence Rock and Roll" — a blend of California stoner rock, skate punk, and heavy metal rooted in raw fuzz guitar and high-energy live performance. Their debut self-titled EP (2011) was produced by Black Flag bassist Chuck Dukowski, lending immediate underground credibility, and Primitive Blast (2012) and Bless Off (2014) built their reputation further on Tee Pee Records. Rare Breed (2015), released on Century Media, broadened their reach while maintaining the band's unpolished aesthetic. Their appeal crosses the heavy metal and punk underground equally.

Vista Chino formed in 2010 under the original name Kyuss Lives!, bringing together three former Kyuss members — vocalist John Garcia, drummer Brant Bjork, and bassist Nick Oliveri — alongside Belgian guitarist Bruno Fevery. After a legal challenge from former Kyuss guitarist Josh Homme prohibited the use of the Kyuss name for recordings, the group rebranded as Vista Chino and released their sole album Peace in 2013 before disbanding the following year. The project drew on the desert rock vocabulary the members had helped pioneer in the early 1990s.
Wildlights formed in Wilmington, North Carolina in 2015 as a collaboration between Jason Shi of Southern stoner rock band ASG and Johnny Collins of Thunderlip. Their self-titled debut (2015), produced by Matt Hyde, drew equally from desert rock and blues-rooted Southern hard rock, blending melodic chorus-driven songwriting with dense, purposeful grooves. The project occupies a space between the SoCal stoner tradition and the heavier, blues-inflected sound native to the Carolinas.
