Usnea
Usnea formed in Portland, Oregon in 2011, playing an expansive style of doom and death metal that incorporated funeral doom pacing, sludge density, and black metal atmosphere. Their three main studio albums — Usnea (2013), Random Cosmic Violence (2014), and Portals Into Futility (2017) — were released on Relapse Records and earned sustained critical attention within underground doom circles. The band disbanded in 2024 after a final album, Bathed in Light (2023).
