Colorado Springs' Metro Society are a freshly formed progressive metal act that arrived in 2024, bringing the genre's hallmarks — shifting time signatures, layered arrangements, and a taste for the epic — to a city whose high-altitude isolation breeds musicians with a lot of time to develop ambitious ideas. Still in their earliest phase, they are part of a new wave of American prog metal bands approaching the genre without reverence for its rules. Their music rewards patience and attentive listening.
