Control Denied was the progressive power metal project of Death mastermind Chuck Schuldiner, conceived as a vehicle for clean-sung, melodically sophisticated metal that diverged sharply from his death metal work. Their sole album, 'The Fragile Art of Existence' (1999), stands as a landmark of intricate, emotionally complex heavy music.
